6 Ways I Have Changed My Spending Habits

Since I have started following a strict monthly budget I have had to really start paying attention to my spending habits. In the past you could have caught me cruising the aisles at Target to waste time. The problem was I wasn’t just wasting time I was wasting money to! In the past 2 months I have noticed a few things that I have changed and it’s helped me reign in my excess spending.

  1. I have been shopping by a list and have stopped browsing when I go into a store
  2. I avoid super stores like Walmart and Target when I can, this helps me avoid my browsing problem
  3. I started using more coupons and using them strategically
  4. I have been following my weekly meal plan more faithfully
  5. I have stopped buying snacks and drinks at gas stations
  6. As a family we have dramatically decreased our Fast Food visits

In the month of February I have kept EVERY SINGLE receipt! I have to admit I am dreading going through them, usually I would love to analyze my spending. For some reason I am scared. I guess I just don’t want to see that I wasted money when I have been trying so hard not to. Hopefully by March 1st I will post My actual February spending VS. what I budgeted and an update on our Baby Step progress.

Speaking of Saving Money… I went into town today to get a few things and I have to say I got some pretty sweet deals.

First I went to Target, but I did not Browse! I was on a couponing mission!

  1. Hey! You’re making improvements to your budget and that is what matters. We all will never be perfect 24/7, so when you look at those receipts, don’t dread it, be proud of yourself for doing better and make a goal to do it better again next month!
